What Can I Expect From Attending?
At BrainBlast, you will:
- Observe available technologies in the Weber School District.
- Discuss your technical issues with other teachers.
- Explore technology and best practices in your classroom.
- Listen to high-powered keynote speakers.
- Get some swag.
- Experience a great way to enhance your curriculum with technology.
- Determine how technology makes classroom management easier.
- Win cool prizes!
Philosophy
The BrainBlast philosophy is that technology does not replace a teacher, but can make a good teacher better. Weber School District is committed to exposing teachers to new technologies. We believe
every teacher should have an equal chance to gain the technology
training they need.
Registration
BrainBlast attendees will be picked through a lottery. We will randomly select up to 150 elementary teachers, 150 secondary teachers, and 20 administrators who wish to attend. Eligible applicants will be notified by their district email.
Anyone who did not get picked from the lottery will be put on a waiting list. If anyone declines their conference spot, a new person from the waiting list will be contacted.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who can attend?
BrainBlast is limited to 320 participants: 150 elementary teachers, 150 secondary teachers, and 20 administrators. Unfortunately, we can't accommodate counselors, secretaries, aides, and other staff members at this time.
- How much?
BrainBlast is free for you! The Weber School District Technical Services, Career Technology Education, and Special Education Departments are underwriting your fees for the conference.
- What do I bring?
Just your brain and a willingness to learn. Casual dress will suffice. We will provide all food, equipment, and great training.
- What if I can't attend both days of my sessions?
Don't register. It is expected you will attend the full conference. If you can't attend each session and keynote, put the conference on your calendar for next year. It's too expensive for us to have people wasting seats, when so many people want to attend.
- What if I don't even know how to program my toaster?
We want you! People with a diverse range of technical ability will be in attendance, and this conference will help you sharpen your technical skills and become a better teacher in this digital age.
