2012 Bond Election
AGING BUILDINGS
West Weber Elementary first opened its doors to students in 1928, the same year that Shirley Temple was born, Amelia Earhart flew across the Atlantic, Mickey Mouse first appeared in Steamboat Willie and Herbert Hoover was elected president.
Much has changed since then including construction practices. Weber School District has been diligent in providing the necessary maintenance to maximize the lifespan of our schools. However, in addition to maintenance issues and utility inefficiencies, our oldest schools lack the safety features, accessibility to the disabled, as well as the infrastructure and learning environment needed for optimal education.
2006 BOND
In May of 2006 the district asked voters to approve a 65 million dollar bond for construction projects. The school board was grateful to the public for approving these measures and took seriously the responsibility of using these funds. As was promised, replacement schools for North Ogden Elementary, Plain City Elementary, Valley Elementary and South Ogden Jr. High were built. These schools have been heralded not only for their effective design but for the cost they were built. Projects throughout the district were completed making our schools more effective and safer learning environments.
